Is playground turf safe under a swing set?
Do not assume it is. Turf is only fall-protective as a complete tested system, meaning the turf, base, any cushioning and infill, installed and maintained as specified in the test documentation, tested for a fall height at least as high as your equipment. Before choosing, ask to review the test documentation for that exact assembly and compare it to your equipment's fall height. If it cannot be supplied, do not treat the assembly as fall-protective surfacing.
Do I need padding under the turf?
Under equipment with a fall height, a cushioning layer is usually part of the system, and it has to work together with the turf and infill. Ordinary turf over a compacted lawn base must not be assumed to provide fall protection. For a flat play lawn with nothing to fall from, you may not need it. We will talk through your equipment before quoting.
How do you match the surface to the height of our play set?
We start with the manufacturer's fall height for your equipment, then look for a system with documentation for at least that height. We do not state a depth or height rating here. That has to come from the documentation for the specific assembly, which you should review before scheduling.
Will it burn my toddler's feet in summer?
It can get too hot in direct sun. Our standard installation includes cooling infill, but that does not guarantee bare feet are safe. Plan shade, rinse the surface before use on hot afternoons, and check it with your hand before children play.
What is the infill made of?
It depends on the system chosen. Our standard installation includes cooling infill, and you can ask for the exact turf, infill and cushioning materials in your quote and any available test reports. Ask what any test covered and what it did not. We do not make blanket claims about toxicity or material safety.
Can I see the test reports for the turf and padding?
You should ask for them, from us and from anyone else you are considering, for the exact assembly in your quote. Check that the report matches the whole system and the fall height of your equipment. We do not claim any report here that you have not been shown.
Will water or mold build up under the playhouse?
We assess water flow, equipment placement, shade and cleaning access on site. Drainage is part of our standard installation. Shaded spots stay damp longer, and we do not promise any area will be mold-proof. Clear leaves and debris and keep up cleaning.
Is turf better than playground mulch for our yard?
It depends on what you want. Turf can reduce exposed-soil cleanup but still needs cleaning and brushing, and it gets hot. Compare mulch installation and replenishment costs, cleaning, heat and documented fall-height suitability. Neither material alone proves fall protection.
Do you move and reinstall the play set?
Equipment moving, reinstalling and anchoring are not assumed to be included in a turf quote. Confirm who is responsible, what our quote covers and any separate equipment work in writing before scheduling.
What does the full play area cost and what upkeep is required?
Pricing is quoted per property after a site visit. Our published lawn package rates are not an equipment or fall-protection system quote, so ask for site preparation, surfacing, cushioning and any equipment work to be listed separately. Upkeep means clearing leaves and debris, brushing, rinsing and spot cleaning.
